An Invisalign Treatment Timeline Benefits Your Smile By Mark Luria, DDS on August 15, 2022

Teeth with Invisalign aligners

We all want to present the best versions of ourselves to the outside world. Whether it's maintaining your personal relationships or professional associations, a smile with large gaps, crooked teeth, or overcrowding may make you self-conscious and lower your self-esteem. You may feel as though you can’t socialize with confidence or go after that important job promotion.

Orthodontics is a dental discipline that involves straightening or moving teeth. If you want comfortable, discreet orthodontic treatment in the Dearborn, MI, area, Dearborn Family Dentistry can provide you with an Invisalign® treatment timeline that can improve your smile.

Many Patients Prefer Invisalign to Braces

Dearborn Family Dentistry in Dearborn, MI, uses Invisalign aligners to gradually move teeth into their ideal positions. Many patients prefer Invisalign aligners to metal braces because they are clear, thin, and removable. With Invisalign, you’ll have a virtually unnoticeable way to straighten your teeth without preventing you from doing all the things you love. You can play contact sports, eat your favorite foods, and smile wide in photographs with friends. Invisalign even protects your teeth from subconscious grinding and clenching.

Your General Dentist Can Create Your New Smile

Invisalign aligners can save you money because you do not need a special dentist or orthodontist to obtain them. Your general dentist here at Dearborn Family Dentistry can take your impressions and send them to an Invisalign lab where professionals will create your aligners. Your initial consultation with us as a new patient will cost just $29, including the exam and X-rays. Though we accept many insurances that may contribute to the cost of treatment, we also accept financing through CareCredit® and LendingClub®.

The Magic of the Invisalign Treatment Timeline

While traditional orthodontic treatment using metal braces may take up to two and a half years to complete, Invisalign can often be completed in several months to over a year, depending on the positions of your teeth. Your Dearborn Family Dentistry dentist will provide you with an estimated treatment timeline at your initial consultation. Your Invisalign treatment will involve several steps:

  • You will wear each aligner for two weeks. After the aligners have been worn for two weeks, you will replace them with the next in the series.
  • Each aligner must be worn for 20-22 hours each day, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
  • During the treatment period, you will attend dental checkups every four to six weeks to make sure everything is going according to plan.
  • Once your dentist marks the end of your treatment, you can continue to wear your final set of aligners as a retainer to keep your teeth in their newly aligned position.
